Goodbye 2008, Hello (finally) 2009!

I'm not going to go into a long dialogue of why I'm glad to see 2008 over with. Let's just say man, what a year! With 2009 just around the corner, it's time to update my resolutions. I'm really going to make an effort this year to keep them. For health, financial, and sanity reasons I really must.

  1. Keep better records
  2. manage my money better
  3. I so need to keep a sharper eye on my suger levels (I'm diabetic) and my blood pressure. I need to make sure I take my meds regularly and keep my doctor appointments.
  4. lose weight for medical reasons and beeter overall health (as well as fashion reasons).
  5. enter more art shows
  6. do more artwork
  7. post on blog more often

I think that is enough to keep track of for now. I do have something in the works artwise, but more on that as it is finalized. so for now...

A Small Gem

I did this while waiting for the ham to cook on Thanksgiving day. I started it out as an collage of stars papers and cut outs, but then decided to add the the girl's face using watercolor crayons and wax crayon. Then I finished it off with a little gold ink. It is among the first pieces on my new etsy shop.

Sandra Bullock?

This a small collage I did while watching tv one night. She makes me think of Sandra Bullock for some reason.

Well, finally got it up! I think I needed to add another string of lights though. (giggle) The bookcase makes a great background, uh? I think some of my ornaments are missing, too.

But I liked putting it up. A little holiday music, some hot tea, a scented candle lite. Oh, yeah!

I even had some help. For those of you out there with this special kind of help, read this

The Ten Steps Of Putting Up A Christmas Tree With A Cat "Helping"

Step 1-pull all branches out of box. Pull cat out of box.

Step 2-put tree together. Pull cat out of tree.

Step 3-Unravel lights. Pull lights out of reach of cat. Pull cat out of tree.

Step 4-begin stringing lights on tree. Step over cat several times before stepping on cat. Put down lights to go makeup to cat.

Step 5-Finish lights while cat is pouting.

Step 6-repeat step 4 with berry string and garland.

Step 7-Unpack ornaments. Pull cat out of box. Begin placing ornaments on tree.

Step 8-Search for bulbs. Find them under couch where cat is playing with them. Retrieve bulbs. Cat is miffed and bites your ankle.

Step 9-Put cat in Bathroom.

Step 10-Turn on LOUD Holiday music to drown out angry cat yowls and finish tree.

First Snow and Christmas Past

Looks like we might have a white christmas this year. It's snows just alittle bit here every other day. I would love to see some snow on Christmas Day. Just not enough to keep me from getting to work later on in the week.
I really don't remember having a white Christmas in-well-decades.
I do remember one Christmas when visiting my grandparents when I was a child it snowed on Christmas. I can still see the white blanket glistening under a bright sun as we traveled familiar roads to reach their house, excited about seeing them, knowing there was all kinds on goodies awaiting us. Grandpa always had cream drops for us and Grandma baked cookies. They weren't rich and usually their presents consisted on coloring books and crayons, bubble bath, maybe night gowns that Grandma had made us girls. It was enough. Just being there with them at Christmas was what we wanted.
