I don’t know about everyone else, but I am so glad to be saying good-bye to this last year. In fact, I am glad the whole decade is over. It has been a decade that so totally needs a do-over.
Starting on September 2, my siblings , my mom, and I had to make the difficult decision to allow my stepfather to pass. It hurt. As I was the one to take care of him that last year of his life it was particularly hard. Then throughout the whole decade I lost an aunt, a cousin, a best friend, four uncles, and finally, my mother.
In 2002 the warehouse that I had worked at for the past 10 years shut down. So began my time of jumping from temp job to temp job until March 2008 when I landed the job I have now.
Also in 2002 I lost my good health. At least, I thought I had good health. In February of that year I was diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension. So began my battle to stay off insulin. I also began to have problems with pain in my back, hips, and legs. Then began problems with bleeding all the time. That finally came to a head when I went to the ER because I was weak and my heart was racing. There I was told that I had less than half the normal amount of blood needed to be at peak and was dying. Ok, time for an emergency surgery. Lost my temp job because of that.
And because I could not find a long term job I lost my house and new car. Then I had to declare bankruptcy, so lost my good credit.
I also gave up on dreams that I had held dear.
THE GOOD NEWS
In the last decade I discovered the blogsphere, mixed media art, many cool art magazines, new friends-both near and online, and Starbucks.
And I have discovered new dreams.
HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY THE NEW ONE BRING YOU MANY BLESSINGS!
This blog is just where I leave my thoughts on being an artist and life itself.

Christmas Eve Thoughts
Tonight is Christmas Eve. Most years I have spent this night at home with my mom and any family members that show up. This year I am going out to a party. I don't really feel like sitting at home alone. I guess I have a case of the Holiday Blues.
And Saturday is my birthday. So I'm going to Starbucks for my complimentary drink. My sisters are coming down that day for the family get-together. I'm cooking the turkey and a dessert. They suppose to be bringing the rest. I also have to finish the gingerbread house. So Christmas Day will be spent cleaning house and doing all the little things needed, like finishing wrapping presents.
So I'm going to wish all of my blogsphere friends a Merry Christmas now. Have a happy and fun filled day with your families. May the magic of the season fill your hearts and the peace of the season follow you throughout the coming year.

First Snow and An Harrowing Trip Home
Love the snow but wish I wasn't out in it Friday night. When I went in to buy supplies it was raining. When I came back out the parking lot was covered. Thus began My harrowing trip home. What is normally a 20 minute drive began 3 hours long. There were cars all over the road, in ditches, and stopped on hills they could not get up. I managed to get within 5 miles of my house and hit a hill I could not get up. I finally slid into the ditch while trying to get up it.

Luckily a nice man and his son came by and got my car out of the ditch. And while we were doing that a young lady in an SUV came by and offered me a ride home. With my grocies. And of course, the lights kept going off and on. I shouldn't complain.
Some people still don't have power.
My neighbor helped me go get my car out of the ditch yesterday, so all's good. I did not like my car on the side of the road.
