The Ghost Cat

BANG

Stacy groaned and flipped over to bury her head against Jim’s back.

BANG!

Jim grunted and pulled his pillow over his head.

BANG!

“Stacy, do something about that cat!” Jim’s muffled voice came. “I can’t sleep.”

Stacy laid there, reluctant to leave the warmth of the bed. Another bang of the door came. She turned over and sat up. She could see a small white paw under the door where it didn’t quite meet the floor. She could also see the glean of a green eye staring at her next to the paw. She got up to open the door and glare down at her tortoiseshell cat, Munchie. Glancing at the clock Stacy saw that it was 3:23 am.

“Can’t you wait for morning?”

Munchie turned and ran down the stairs to the kitchen door, her miffed owner behind her. Once the door was opened she sashayed over to her bowl to sit with a queenly dignity for her very early breakfast.

After ten minutes of dainty eating and a quick wash she led Stacy to the back door. Stacy opened the door and stared out at the heavy fog that obscured the night. Munchie started out, then sat down just inside the door, looking out.

“Oh, no, you don’t. You are not waking me up again to let you out.” Stacy put her foot under the cat’s rump and shoved her out the door. Munchie turned to hiss at her then raced across the deck into the fog. Stacy turned to make her way back to bed. As she got settled back against her husband’s back she heard a jingle coming from downstairs. She raised her head. There, she heard it again.

“What the…?”

“What is it?” Jim asked.

“Do you hear that?”

“Hear what?”

“That jingling noise. It sounds like it’s coming from the kitchen.”

He listened.

“Sounds like the bell on the cat’s collar. Big deal.”

“I put Munchie out.” Stacy got up to investigate the sound.

Back downstairs Stacy opened the kitchen door and flipped on the overhead light. There, in her bed next to the iron stove, laid Munchie. She opened one sleepy eye to glare at her in annoyance.

“If Munchie is in here,” Stacy moved to the door. “what did I kick out the door?”

Then it dawned on her. The whole previous episode was silent. Not once did the cat meow, purr, or make a sound with her collar bell

A Truly Creepy Scene

Not sure if you remember this show, but this scene is one of the best. You have to watch until the end to see the creep factor, but first time I saw it sent a chill right up my spine.

(remember-I have this problem with things moving that should not be moving.)

SeaQuest DSV-Knights of Shadows
Original Air Date:
31 October 1993 (Season 1, Episode 7)
The crew of Seaquest find a luxury liner that sank in 1913 that is not quite abandoned.

The creepy scene in it is when everyone is looking at pictures on a screen of the captain and the passengers right before they boarded the doomed ship, the captain in the picture turned and looked back at them. That one scene made me jump and get the willies. Watch until the end…

It Came From Outer Space

There is a second movie to this , sort of a part two that was made in the nineties. It was pretty good.

Ghostly Voices

Can you just hear the spectural voices raised in an oldtime Southern hymn?

Duh!

Sometimes I wonder about my own intelligence. I mean, I have had this camera for over a year and last night I finally figured out how to properly use the macro setting. Duh! Now my pictures for etsy might look better. I'm such a goof. This just goes to show that technology and I do not click.

Signs of Autumn for True

I know, Autumn is in full swing, but I have not seen the one sign that the days are turning chilly. I have not seen any flocks of birds migrating. Not until this morning. I was one my fornt porch enjoying by coffee when overhead they came. A loud flock. I'm not sure what kind of bird they were. I can hear them even now. In the trees behind my house. Noisey little things.
Well, gotta go. Working on Christmas gift tags.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

You know, I think I actually liked the remake with Keanu Reeves better.

The Thing

This is one of my all time most favorite movies. I thought John Carpenter's version sucked-all gore and shock. No suspense. I hear someone is making another version. Blah!

The Creature from the Black Lagoon

I believe someone remade this movie to be released in 2011. Sorry, nothing is as good as the original, even if it is a bad movie.

Halloween Party 2010

Hey, there you are! Thanks for coming. Cool costumes. Come on in and let’s get started.
Hands out of the candy by the door. It’s for the trick or treaters.

Now, everyone find a seat. There’s popcorn on the coffee table. Help yourself. I also have drinks, candy, and other goodies for all on the dining room table. There’s pigs in the blanket, toasted nachos with cheese, and green punch. There is also cookies, candied apples, and cake.

For those who wish, I’ll be making Bloody Marys and Midnight Margaritas.

Now then, what shall we watch first? How about something fun like A Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride. I love Tim Burton movies.

Or maybe a little scare. I so love to watch B movies from the 50s.

Or maybe we could watch one of the movies that truly scared me. This is one of the best ghost stories I have ever read or seen.

Ok, everyone got snackies? (Barney! Get down. You don’t get sweet snacks. Sorry , folks. My cat is a pig.) Let’s get started…

...lights out.

Hope everyone has a lovey time party hopping from Vanessa's Halloween party 2010.

Movie Trailer-The Blob!

This was Steve McQueen's first movie. He later said he wished he had never made it as he felt it did bad for his career.

Another Movie Trailer from the Past

My parents would take us to the drive in on Saturday nights. We would sit in the car, wrapped in blankets, listening to the tinny sounds coming from the sound box attached to the driver's window, begging for a trip to the conccesion stand. Then the big screen would light up and we would become quiet as the movie began.

This was one of the first movies we saw. It made me cry at the end. Really, it did. I was actually rooting for the monster. (I usually do.)

Happy Birthday, Mom

You never know what you have until it's gone. How true is that. Today is my mom's birthday. She would of been 65. I lost her last year on October 3rd. I had been her caretaker since 2000. The year before that I was my step dad's.

Mom was severely diabetic-type 1, and as such had many problems due to that disease. She was wheelchair bound having lost her lower left leg and, because so much of her right foot had to be removed, was unable to keep her balance enough even with a prosthetic. She was also legally blind-her left eye dead and her right had cataracts.
She was also on dialysis-going three days a week to sit for four hours a day to be cleansed and have liquid removed. Her kidneys no longer worked at all. Which caused her blood pressure to stay low all the time. Not good. Add to that Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but I believe that was caused by all the stress she was under. My mom was not a healthy woman.
Everyone who knew my mom said she was a happy woman, always smiling and teasing with you. She did put up a good front for people. But they did not hear her in the night, weeping to herself and praying for relief, begging God for just one day of health.

My mom was deeply religious, but due to her health she was unable to attend Church, so she watched it on TV. Of course, she had a time wading through all the TV preachers to find the real ones as opposed to the nuts.

I'm pretty confidant of where my mom is today and I will see her again.

They say it takes a year to properly mourn. Ha! I will never stop mourning the loss of my parents. But I can...and am moving on. Time to get over the depression and rejoin life.

Happy Birthday, Mom. I love and miss you.

Pumpkin Spiced Lattes

Pumpkin Spiced Lattes

Ingredients
3 cups hot whole milk (or could use 2% or even soy milk for healthier drink)
4 teaspoons white sugar (or use Truvia or Splenda)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
6 ounces double-strength brewed coffee
3 tablespoons sweetened whipped cream (can use low-fat but who wants to?)
3 pinches pumpkin pie spice
Directions
Combine the hot milk (suggest you microwave the milk. I always burn it if I use the stove), sugar, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice in a blender; blend until frothy. Pour the mixture into 3 coffee mugs to about 2/3 full. Pour 2 ounces coffee into each mug. Garnish each mug with whipped topping and pumpkin pie spice.
