Inspiration Avenue-Pure

When I read what the weekly theme was from Inspiration Avenue this old gospel song On the Wings of a Pure White Dove ran through my head. I knew I just had to do a work for it.

I hope that this means my time creative blockage is over. For the past few months, actually since my mother died, I have been living in a void. Unable to paint or write. I so badly want to be able to create again. Maybe this is a new beginning.
BTW-the top and bottom is also painted and decorated.

Today is Inspire Your Heart with Art Day.

Today was Bubblewrap Appreciation Day. 50 years ago a man named Alfred Fielding was in a plane and got the idea from the clouds outside his window.
I say all hail Mr. Fielding! I love bubblewrap. I love to just sit and pop them while watching TV. It is so calming. Sometimes it's better than a purring cat.

This is also my Happy Monday Post. Bubblewrap makes me happy.

Today is National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day. (Don't ask me. I don't make these up.) Do you have an idea of what your cat is thinking? I would be scared of what my two would ask. They may run along these lines...Why do you not feed us when we demand? Where do you go everyday? Why do you sleep at night? What is that awful sound you make sometimes? (They don't appreciate Mommy's singing voice.)

Today is National Hugging Day. So, everyone...GROUP HUG!!! Hug everyone in your life. Hug total strangers (even if they look at you funny).

Today is Appreciate a Dragon Day. Fitting since I'm reading Katie MacAlister's Silver Dragons series.
Isn't it interesting that nearly all ancient civilizations not even connected with each other had a version of the dragon. Tiamat of Sumeria, the Feathered Serpent of South America, The Chinese Dragons, Saint George and the Dragon. Makes one think, doesn't it?

My Mom loved dragons.

Today is the International Fetish Day. Oookay. Anyone want to touch that one?

I looked this up-here is the definition of fetish-

an object (as a small stone carving of an animal) believed to have magical power to protect or aid its owner; (I have a rose quartz that reminds me of a heart that I akways hold when I need calming and healing.)

broadly : a material object regarded with superstitious or extravagant trust or reverence

b : an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion : prepossession

c : an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression.

Do any of you have a fetish (and I don't mean the sexual kind. I don't want to know any of those you might have. That's just...ew!)

Today is Organize Your Home Day. (rolling in the floor, laughing until my sides hurt) Organization and I have not been on speaking terms since...well, since I learned to speak. If I tried to organize my house I would never be able to find anything.

Today is National Bubble Bath Day. Let's see-I have my bubble bath, my loofah, my candles, my cd player (with cds), fave magazine, and do not disturb sign for door. Ah, bliss.

It is also National Women's Day. So celebrate our day with a bubble bath of your own.

Today is National I'm Not Going To Take It Anymore Day. I'ld like to know what you have had enough of. Me? Whiney Co-workers you can't please.

The First Happy Monday

I want to start out the year thinking good thoughts, so I am starting a new weekly post. On Mondays, to start out the week right, I will blog about something that makes me happy. This first Monday of 2010 I want to blog about books. In particularly art books.
I love getting a new book showcasing the artwork of others, especially mixed media arts. When I need inspiration they are always there for me to look through for ideas. Every artist should have at least a book on design and composition, as well as books in mediums that one does not use. Inspiration can be found there, too. Even though I am a painter and a mixed media artist, I find inspiration in pottery, papermaking, and printing.
My newest book was delivered on Christmas Eve from Amazon. It’s sort of a birthday present for myself. It is Creative Paint Workshop for Mixed Media Artists by Ann Baldwin. I love it. I have already gotten ideas from it. She’s a great artist.
So, going to go use some of those ideas now.
Later

Sunday, January 3, 2010

Today is the National Day of J R R Tolkien.(such a great writer. Easily the father of modern epic fantasy.) It is also the National Day of Chocolate Covered Cherries. (yummy, two of my favorite things together.)

Saturday, January 2, 2010

Today is National Cat Day. So give your furry friend a big hug and a special can of tuna to celebrate the day.

Resolutions and Reflections

A new year begins today, with new hopes and dreams, a sense of renewal. I have much hopes this year myself. To this end I have joined some challenges and may join others to help me with my art. I also decided to do better with my diabetes. I don’t want an early grave as so many in my family. I need to lose the weight so I can avoid insulin, and maybe even get the diabetes in control since I’m a type 2.
Since January is International Creative Month I will strive to be more creative this year. January is also the National Celebration of Life Month. It is fitting that January’s stone is the garnet, a rich red stone with a fire of it’s own, a fire to represent heart’s blood, the warmth of life.
So let’s start out the new year celebrating life creativity.
