I finished this new abstract today and would like some feedback. Are the colors strong enough? Should I add anything? Should I not have put in the words. I did refrain from adding bling to it (and you have no idea how hard that was to me). I wanted to keep it light and airy and warm, like a summer day. I doing a lot of Summer paintings. I'll more as they get done. The pic sucks I know because of the overcast day. I'll do a better pic as soon as sun decides to shine.
This blog is just where I leave my thoughts on being an artist and life itself.

I Was Such a Bad Girl
I was downdown again today, on the alley, passing Starbucks with the windows down in the heat. That fappee kept calling to me and when that unique smell of coffee hit as I passed I caved. (Go ahead. slap my hand. I deserve it. The Devil made me do it.)

Goundhog Day
I sure hope that the groundhog does not see his shadow. I want winter to be over!
Today is also Imbolc. I'm not a Wiccan myself, but I always celebrate Imbolc since being introduced to it by a few Wiccan friends. Maybe because I love candles. Maybe because I need a visual symbol to know that winter won't last much longer. I know many of you grow tired of hearing how much I hate winter, but since I suffer from arthritis the cold just keeps me in pain. I long for warmer days and less pain.

Good-Bye Summer
Good-bye Summer
Good-bye Summer, with your days filled with light and heat,
your green lushness, blue blue skies, and colorful flowers seen on the side of the road.
Good-bye to the sounds of children’s carefree laughter, the buzz of bees, cicadas, and birdsong.
Good-bye to the smells of freshly mowed grass, roses, and hamburgers grilling mixed with the smell of gunpowder on the 4th of July
Good-bye to the taste of iced tea on a really hot day, of peaches fresh from the farm, of cotton candy at the summer fair.
Good-bye to the feel of cool grass between my toes, to the sunshine on my skin, the thump of a thunderstorm felt in the bones.
Good-bye Summer, with your nights filled with mystery and warmth,
your dark velvet comfort, star filled skies, and fireflies under the trees..
Good-bye to the sounds of frogs at twilight, cricket song, and the music of distant parties on the lake.
Good-bye to the smell of honeysuckles through the bedroom window, gas fumes mixed with food smells as I drive down Roan Street with my windows down, and the wet freshness of an over night rain.
Good-bye to the taste of blackberries picked that day, milkshakes made with much laughter and messiness, and a chilled Riesling after dinner on the deck.
Good-bye to the feel of cool sheets after a hot day, cool breezes from off the lake, the drowsiness felt after a hard days work in the yard.
Good-bye Summer.

A Word Picture
A hot wind moves across my skin, sweat trickles down my face and back,
dry grass crunches beneath my feet, a bee buzzes by.
Under the trees of my backyard woods, in the dark shade
yellow eyes watch me warily from a darker shadow
and blue eyes look up at me pleadingly from a little gray and tan face,
softly meowing for a pet. All around me my flowers droop, thirsty and dying roses, honeysuckles, and tigerlillies.
Is that thunder I faintly hear? Is that a dark cloud on the horizan?
Is rain finally coming? Please, God, say it is.

Blue Plum Festival
So, the Blue Plum Festival was this weekend and alot of fun is was. Every year they close down east main and east market streets to showcase lots of art, food, and music on the streets. This year was just as great with the addition of a jazz stage in front of Nelson's art center. I love jazz. There was also celtic music, blugrass, and outlaw country. The food court held booths for funnel cakes, hot dogs, hamburgers, fried potatos rings, thai food, greek, and just plain southern cooking. There was a childern's area for games and free ice cream. The galleries had their openning for the month with Nelson's showcasing sculture and the Signature had artwork from four of our female area artists. The stores lining the streets also were having specials during the fest. The artists with booths had everything from paintings, frabic art, woodcuts, jewelry, pottery, handmade candles and soaps, to bonsai trees.
It was hot as hell-in the mid ninties and humid, but it was crowded as usual, even for early evening.
I really wanted to have a booth myself this year, but my little hospital stay last year put me back financially. Maybe next year I'll be able to have my booth.

Spring! Spring! I love Spring! I love the Daffadils and the Dandelions. I love the Pear trees and the Redbuds. I love Cherry Blossoms and Dogwoods. I love the fresh green grass and bright new budding leaves. I love baby chicks, and baby deer, and baby rabbits, and kittens and puppies and the warm weather. The warmth makes me want to run around my yard and scream and dance. I want to start digging in the soil and plant things. I want to drive around the city with all my windows down and my radio blaring. I want a new haircut and to buy new clothes that show off my tattoos. I want to tell my boss that I'm taking the next few months off and he can deal with it. I want to go wild!
Today was a beautiful day. What I call a Starbucks Caramel Frappricino Day!!!
