Spring-to me the idea of Spring is newness, budding flowers, and color! Color every where after months of neutrals. And as everyone who knows me I love color. This began as a free flow painting, but when I was not getting a feel for it I turned it to the side and found a budding flower. It's an 8x8 acrylic on canvas and will be going up for sale on my website and will have prints offered. I hope you enjoy it and look for other IA entries for Primavera.
Hey, there you are! Thanks for coming. Cool costumes. Come on in and let’s get started. Hands out of the candy by the door. It’s for the trick or treaters.
Now, everyone find a seat. There’s popcorn on the coffee table. Help yourself. I also have drinks, candy, and other goodies for all on the dining room table. There’s pigs in the blanket, toasted nachos with cheese, and green punch. There is also cookies, candied apples, and cake.
For those who wish, I’ll be making Bloody Marys and Midnight Margaritas.
Now then, what shall we watch first? How about something fun like A Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride. I love Tim Burton movies.
Or maybe a little scare. I so love to watch B movies from the 50s.
Or maybe we could watch one of the movies that truly scared me. This is one of the best ghost stories I have ever read or seen.

This week the theme at Inspiration Avenue was to use something found. I have been at my "day job" for way too many hours this week so did not have a chance to look for something this week so I used something I found a long time ago. A rattlesnake tail. I made a Native American inspired necklace out of it. I really wanted a real choker but my neck is too small and the choker would not look good. I know because I tried. I love Southwest and Native American jewelry.
I did use carnelian beads and bone beads I bought to make the necklace. It usually hangs in my bathroom because I don't wear it much. The guys at work have tried to talk me out of it. The cats don't like me to wear it either. They hiss and carry on when they hear it rattle. Must be a species memory thing because they have never seen a rattlesnake.
In Native American lore the rattlesnake is considered a messenger from the spirits as well as a protector and teacher. Maybe the rattlesnake is one of my totems and I was meant to find this tail.
This is my post for this weeks theme-Words-at Inspiration Avenue. I chose the words imagine because I have been imagining alot lately. The bird represents my spirit taking flight into a new future. I hope.

I really haven't had time to do much art this week but I did get this cool cloud pic right before a storm hit. I just wish it was coming in over the lake instead of the woods. It would of been a better picture.
Well, back to work on the painting from the earlier post.
In an attempt to appease the dragon inflicting the good ladies of IA, I have gone on a quest. After many a long nights in the dark fortresses of wizards, after much meditation with the monks in Shangri-La, after swimming to the depths of the oceans to consult with the elders of the Merfolk, and many more harrowing treks I have found this-
The Heart of Peace. May the dragon find it’s magic helpful in finding his own peace.
The Heart is a pin. Not sure where we can pin it on him, but maybe he can put it with the rest of his hoard.
The pin is a wooden heart with gold paint, lilac paint, white paint, interferance purple, silver ink, and bling. it measures 2" across and is very light weight.
Ok, that's better. I haven't been able to find my blog for a few days. Thought it was messed up, but as soon as posted the last thing it came back up. Freaked me out there for a while. When I read what the weekly theme was from Inspiration Avenue this old gospel song On the Wings of a Pure White Dove ran through my head. I knew I just had to do a work for it.
I hope that this means my time creative blockage is over. For the past few months, actually since my mother died, I have been living in a void. Unable to paint or write. I so badly want to be able to create again. Maybe this is a new beginning.
BTW-the top and bottom is also painted and decorated.

My #1 inspiration is the female mystique. What makes us women, what moves us, grooves us, challenges us, delights us, saddens us, our relationships with our mothers, daughters, and sisters, and forms our perception of our unique worlds.
My # 2 inspiration is music. While I am working I like to boogie my booty. You could say that when I create it is more like a performance art. Latino and hip hop works best. Yes, my bio says I am a hard rocker, but rock really does not lend itself well to creative dance thinking. Since I like to dance why should I not dance while working. My #3 inspiration is scent. Yes, I said scent. Patchouli for one can send me back to my college art study days, rose to my grandmother and her crochet, honeysuckle to quiet summer nights which are good for just sketching and writing.
10% Jasmine 10% bergamot 5% patchouli-because it is very strong 5% distilled water 70% vodka-no, don’t drink it (well, maybe a glass won’t hurt) A glass perfume bottle
Depending on how strong you want the perfume, you can let the mixture stand for as little as 48 hours all the way to a month. The longer it stands, the stronger it will be. After your perfume has sat for your preferred time, add 2 tablespoons of the diluted water. If the perfume is too strong for you, you can add more water to get your desired scent strength. To make your scent last longer, add a tablespoon of glycerin to your perfume mixture.
My #4 inspiration is Bling! I can’t help it. I must be part gypsy. I love metallic paint, and glitter paint, and iridescent paint, and interference paint, and gold ink, and copper ink, and bronze ink, and beads, and jewels, etc.
My #5 inspiration is my own personal symbols, dreams, nightmares, fears, poems, writings, and childhood memories.
