Natural Timeless

I just wanted to repost this entry because I have been wondering about the direction of my life and been going over this book again.

I have been introduced to this book called Style Statement by Carrie McCarthy and Danielle LaPorte by inkonmyfingers.typepad.com and decided to get it. It suppose to help the reader find their life style, their style statement that relates to all parts of their life. So I read it and did the exercises inside.

Let me tell you now, this book is not for the faint of heart. It forces the reader to really examine themselves. While doing the exercises I have discovered a few things about myself that truly stunned me. I mean, I did not know some of that about me (or I did know and was just denying it).
After I was done I found that I was a…..

Natural Timeless!

Quoted from the book-

Spirit: Natural is genuine, free from artificiality, affectation, and inhibitions. Natural is known for being spontaneous and easygoing. Natural hates to be fenced in and riles against conformity and unreasonable rules., though they are rooted in moral certainty and a strong sense of justice. Very much at ease with their essential selves, Natural is often very instinctive, sensuous, or highly sexual. They are not strangers to hedonism or pleasure seeking. They love to get down to basics and can be graceful and direct communicators. Down to earth, literally and figuratively, Natural has a deep reverence and respect for nature and ecological systems, which delight and replenishes them, and an appreciation of supernatural forces.

Look and feel: All things generated by nature: wood, minerals, gems. Natural coloring, textiles, and produce. Rustic, primitive, flowing, native, or common to it’s surroundings.
How does the commercial song go-"the look, the feel of cotton..."

Definition of timeless from dictionary.com

Without beginning or end, eternal, everlasting, referring to or restricted to no particular time, enduring, abiding, permanent

This is so me! Now I understand my collection of stones (and here everyone thought I was a secret pagan), my dislike of trends, my love of ruins and abandon farmhouses, my need to get away to a spot in nature, my need of space.

Opportunities

I was sent a message via Facebook that there will be a booth opening inside a local gallery during our Blue Plum Festival at the first of June. So I said yes and will be working like heck to be ready. A the work has to be small enough to carry and under $50, so I'm thinking magnets, tiles, cards, aceos, etc. More later.

As you can see on my sidebar I'm selling a book. I thought I would like to try digital art, but it is too much sitting and reading for me. Plus, the trial Photoshop expired and I so do not want to spend that much money on a computer program. I had rather hit Cheap Joes in Boone, NC for art supplies or Artopia in JC. I'm offering it to you guys first before listing it on ebay. I'm selling it for $13 which includes postage.

I have a question to put to all of you. I am thinking of adding Google Adsense to my blog. I could really use some extra cash. What do you all think? Would it put off people from wanting to visit my blog? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The First Happy Monday

I want to start out the year thinking good thoughts, so I am starting a new weekly post. On Mondays, to start out the week right, I will blog about something that makes me happy. This first Monday of 2010 I want to blog about books. In particularly art books.
I love getting a new book showcasing the artwork of others, especially mixed media arts. When I need inspiration they are always there for me to look through for ideas. Every artist should have at least a book on design and composition, as well as books in mediums that one does not use. Inspiration can be found there, too. Even though I am a painter and a mixed media artist, I find inspiration in pottery, papermaking, and printing.
My newest book was delivered on Christmas Eve from Amazon. It’s sort of a birthday present for myself. It is Creative Paint Workshop for Mixed Media Artists by Ann Baldwin. I love it. I have already gotten ideas from it. She’s a great artist.
So, going to go use some of those ideas now.

A New Must Have Book

I found a great books while wandering around in one of my favorite haunts, Books A Million. I just had to have it and now I want to make books. If certain people will leave me in peace this weekend I'll do one.

On Being A Writer (and, oh, don't we all dream of being writers)

It started when I was a teen. I wanted to be a writer. I dreamed of it, the signings, the fans breathlessly awaiting my next book, the fame and fortune. Yet here I am, still wanting to be a writer. I have the characters, titles, and quite a bit of the writing done. But still no book. I find it hard to come up with a whole 80,000-100,000 words novels. I just can't come up with that much material. And forget short stories. When I start writing, I can get pass the word limit for a story and keep going. So what's a girl to do?

I was thinking about just finishing the books as novallas, and use createspace.com to publish them on my own, then sell them on my own website, myspace, blogspot, etc. I could advertise them as quickie reads. I like quickies myself, something to read at one sitting. If I publish one every four months that'll be three a year, or four a year if I publish every three months. I'd love to use the same characters in the books to support the background of the hero/heroine of the story.

If anyone reads this post and has any ideas, thoughts, or just general comments, please feel free to post them. I would love to hear from all of you.

I just finished this book. It was great. Another well told story by Webber filled with lots of giggles and many quirky characters. I loved it and recommend it.

Eternal Pleasure-Nina Bangs

I had just finished this book and found it quite enjoyable. Even though there is less humor in it unlike Bangs other books it is still a very good read. The characters are engaging and well fleshed out, the plotline is an old one but done in an unique way, and the writing was superb. I highly recommend this books.
